About the Programmer
The Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) works to ensure that food is healthy, affordable, fair, and sustainable for all. We believe that all communities deserve access to good food that is grown in a way that respects people and the planet. The group works to create a local food system free from hunger, rooted in equity and access, supportive of farmers and food workers, and guided by principles of environmental stewardship and regeneration. LAFPC serves as backbone organization for a network of more than 400 organizations and agencies, including government, business, and community groups. Through policy creation, cooperative relationships, and community programs, LAFPC is closing the gap in access to healthy food and food-assistance programs, cultivating a fair local food economy, protecting environmental resources, and fostering a diverse regional movement for good food.
About the Program
Three fireside chats embrace the layered history of food and cultural transformation across a range of epochs, including the park’s history as a Tongva village, the development of agriculture and industry, and decolonizing the future of LA food.
